Yesterday's 97 degree high at Reagan National was the second hottest day of the month - only the 98 reading on the 5th was hotter - and helped nudge the monthly average three degrees above the norm. September won't be changing the script all that much as highs today should be in the lower 90s. The cold front moving through today and destined to stall out to our south won't provide much relief from the heat and mugginess. With very moist air, low pressure, and the remnants of Isaac close by, the next few days will be mostly cloudy and muggy with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms. Labor Day looks to be the coolest of the next three days wiht projected high in the low 80s, but also the day with the greatest chance of showers. NOTE: Yesterday's 97 degree reading marked the 50th time this summer that the mercury hit 95 or above, tying the all-time record here in Washington. Enjoy this last weekend of summer!
