Romney to Louisiana to survey Isaac fallout

Mitt Romney is going to New Orleans today to examine the damage from Hurricane Isaac this week, a source told POLITICO. He'll skip his planned rally in Virginia and meet with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who missed his own convention speech, for the second time in a row, to stay at home and deal with the storm, according to Fox News' Carl Cameron. Discussion of the storm was threaded throughout the Republican National Convention in the form of prayers for those in Isaac's path, as well as an overlay of concern initially for Republicans about constrasting coverage. Planners had left open the possibility of adjusting or scrapping more than just the opening night if the storm caused great damage. Isaac never rose to Katrina levels, but it did wreak havoc in Louisiana, and the trip is a way for Romney to show attentiveness to it that he couldn't while the convention was still going on.
